The Sneeze That Sent Me Home

Has anything ever happened to you that makes you mad, yet at the same time you find it extremely funny? I had an experience like that today at work. Hope you find it as funny as me and my family.

For those of you who don't know my family (including extended family) we are known for our sneezes. It is impossible for us to sneeze just once. I have known family members to sneeze 20 times in a row without even having a cold. My record is 16 :)

So, when I sneezed 2 times at work today I didn't think much of it. 2 times is nothing compared to 20!

Well, the Grandmother who is visiting from Greece came running over and asked if I had a cold. I tried to explain her that I often sneeze for no reason, and I felt perfectly fine. Well, she wasn't convinced.

She went to the phone and dialed a number. When the answering machine picked up she left of message.....in Greek! So, I knew she was most likely calling her daughter....my 'boss'.

Hmmmm.....

About 10 minutes later the phone rings, and she commences to have a conversation.....in Greek! After a few minutes she walks over, hands the phone to me and says, "She wants to talk to you."

This is the conversation I had with my boss:

Boss: Hi Kristin. How are you?

Me: I'm fine.

Boss: Are you feeling ok?

Me: Yeah, I feel great actually.

Boss: Well mom said you have a cold and aren't feeling well?

Me: No, I sneezed a few times, but I'm not sick or anything. I feel fine.

Boss: I'm afraid that the baby will catch what you have, so maybe its best if you go home and just come back on Monday.

Me: I'm really NOT sick! I think your mom misunderstood.

Boss: Well, the baby hasn't had his vaccinations yet, so its probably best if you go home and get some rest...come back Monday when you feel better.

UGH! Not really understanding how all this happened after 2 tiny little sneezes, I left.

My whole family found this story hilarious, so I thought I'd give you all a chance to laugh too.

I went to my sister's house after I left since I hadn't been there all week. When I walked in she asked why I was there and not at work. My answer was simple:

"I sneezed."

Haha, I see why your family thought this was hilarious.

I see how with the next sneezing coming you will probably lock up in the next wardrobe for no one to panic ;-)

I wish sneezing'd get me a day off from work!
