Looking Forward

First post of 2012!

For my first post last year I did a recap of everything that had happened in 2010. You can read it here. I was considering doing that again this year, but decided against it. It was very therapeutic to type out my years events when SO much had happened. But I learned something in 2011 that changed my mind about doing a similar post this year.

I learned to keep looking forward...to look to what the future may hold, and let the past be the past.

I often find myself saying, "If only things had gone differently in the past", or "Wouldn't life be better if I hadn't made that choice?".

Stop. I had to stop. All my worrying and wondering were not going to change what had already happened. So 2011 became my year to learn to look ahead.

So instead of recapping last year for you, I decided to tell you what I'd like to accomplish in 2012.

However, that requires me to think about what I do want to accomplish this year. I honestly hadn't thought about it. So here I sit, the hum of the computer providing a nice white noise for thought. What do I want to do in 2012?

This will require much more thought.

And as I've sat here staring at the screen for 10 minutes now trying to decide what I want to do first, I made a different decision. I'm going to end this post, and come back in a few days after I've had some more time to think what I want 2012 to look like.

So my next post, if not the next few, will be my bucket list of sorts for 2012. I'll need to find a new phrase though, because I plan to see 2013 :)

Well, I'm off to do some soul searching for 2012.

What do you want to do with your life this year?

Happy New Year, Kristin.

In January 2011 I had the resolution to fill my life with more joy and just "do" things I already had in my mind for a long time.

This resulted in an amazing vacation with my best friend and her two kids that I keep in heart still, it was just great.

I want to do the same in 2012 - keep an open mind to find time for living and creating memories that will last.
